One Shot RPG Options and Interest Check Empty One Shot RPG Options and Interest Check

I'm copying this over from Minegarde.

"I have two ideas for one shot RPG's, and I figure I ought to let you guys decide on what we do.
This is also an interest check, to see if we get enough people. *crosses fingers*

The first idea would basically be a Monster Hunter quest, just I'd try to spruce it up a lot.
One main detail would be that you have multiple objectives, and some would be stuff other than 'kill this or these monsters.' Gathering, escorting, dropping off, and anything else I (or we) can think of, plus just everything along the way.
Combat would naturally be present, but I'd try to include other stuff. I might encourage taking a non-combat approach to problems (lure monsters away rather than fight them). Roleplaying should fit in without issue, and lots of team work.

To give a specific example, it might go something like this:
You have to kill a Bulldrome, obtain 8 Bullfango tusks, 1 Lao-Shan Melon, 5 Congalala Coconuts, escort a veggie elder from his hut to the base camp, and deliver supplies to the local air balloon.
There's also an Aoashira in the area, which you're better off not fighting.
Perhaps from the veggie elder you learn that Aoashira are generally docile, unless given a reason to attack. You might try to lure it away from the melon it happens to be sitting right next to.
There's also several small rivers running through the area that need to be overcome somehow. The coconuts are on trees that are thirty some thirty feet in the air too.
Maybe I give you a Gagua drawn wagon to help out.
And then I might complicate things with surprises.

With the second idea, you'd basically be a small group of mercenaries that work in the dirty parts of the world. You'd be given a main objective to complete, and you'd have to do several things first to reach it.
To give a specific example: Perhaps you have to retrieve someone who has been taken hostage for money. You know a guy who knows where some grunts could be found. Then you go to the appropriate bar, find the grunt, but a shootout ensues. Then you gotta chase the guy(s) down. Maybe they lose you, and you gotta find their next hideout. Just to later, you know where a higher up is, but his place is guarded beyond a frontal assault. You decide how you're gonna tackle the place. Maybe get inside, cut the power, make a strategic attack, then pull out and repeat something similar.

This idea is very similar to (kind of inspired by) what Star was planning with "Wastelands." (I got her permission to try this before she put up the sign up the second time.)
I was going to try and set it in a 'old west' or desert like area. I'd also like technology to be modern but minimal (instead of a fancy fully automatic Glock pistol, you get a revolver), though I might stray a little.
I haven't figured out if it would be set in the real world, slightly in the future, or something else.
This might be comparable to stuff like Black Lagoon or Firefly, and maybe Book of Eli.
Teamwork and roleplaying would probably have no issue getting in (the former is probably essential).

So lemme know which of those would be preferred, or even if you're neutral (so I know I have you). If you wanna throw ideas into either of them, that's fine too.
If this is to run, I might (probably will) end up running it on another Monster Hunter forum (there's a player over there who I'm 99% sure would join). Most of you already know the place, but if you need a link just private message me.

Both ideas will probably use the Unknown Armies RPG system, which would probably be modified in some way. (I've had enough testing for awhile.)
However, throughout the RPG I'll try to make it seem like the system isn't there.
At the same time though, I feel the system will facilitate what happens, bringing out strengths and weaknesses and other stuff.
If learning the system would be an issue, something could be figured out."

Copying from Minegarde:

Andras (July 1):
Given the current lack of RP's, I am not opposed to joining this.

Sunfish (July 3):
I could go for any of the ideas, although the second and third sound interesting.

DB (Jul7 3):
@Sunfish: If I'm understanding you right, the "second and third" ideas are actually one idea.

@Andras: I have a hunch that you would prefer the Monster Hunter idea (can't recall you doing anything but Monster Hunter :P) but you're kind of looking like the minority currently. (Glyph had voted mercenary idea). Hopefully that's not an issue, but lemme know if it is.

So we've got three people currently (Andras, Glyph, Sunfish). I'll likely throw in a character as well.
I'll start to put together stuff, namely the actual sign up.
