I finally got around to registering to this site, some of you might remember me as the Blue lion.

Nevertheless I look forward to getting my hands on a copy of Monster Hunter Tri and playing with you guys/gals again.

Glad you could finally join us, Hobo. Welcome back! Still trying to get Atlas to join, among several others.

From the looks of things we have almost of the heavy hitters from the previous site.

I'm looking forward to playing Tri with you guys when I get my hands on a copy, till then I have to figure out what weapon I'm going to use since they omitted my Gun Lance...

You could try to get MHP3 for the PSP, they've got gun lances again, new and improved (arguably). There's some English patches floating around, if you can't bear with the Japanese text (I manage to get along with it).

I would get it but my P.S.P. is on its last legs and I really can't play games on it anymore, not only that but since I have Vista installing Kai is proving to be an extraordinary pain in the ass.

With M.H. Tri I'll have the ability of playing with people with relative ease, not to mention I'm fairly interested in the new weapon called, Switch Axe I believe.

From my experience thus far, the Axe is quite fun to mess around with. While I don't use it incredibly often, it does post a challenge to use when you've been used to all the other weapons MH has to offer. I love Axe mode.

The challenge doesn't bother me, it's the inability to block that does.

What do you use when you play?

I almost always use a lance, though GS and Hammer often make appearances in my grasp.

My bad, SRK. It's hard to keep up with everyone. I haven't played in several months now man, haven't had a reason to. But, I will hook back up whenever you get it up and running.

Lets just say the last Rank Up level is 51. Once you reach 51 there are no additional necessary ranks that will prevent you from joining any missions.

I take it the H.R. structure is like the previous games, you kill things, fight the Urgent, rank up to kill harder things?

Yeah, there are set missions to do, but you need a certain exp level to move on.

It's more like the original monster hunter with 20 ranks (though 20 was the absolute cap) with cut off ranks for tiers of quests, or frontier.
I believe there are still the six main tiers of quests though, like freedom and freedom 2 (not Unite though, with nine).

@Andras: Make a female character. That's what everyone does for their second character.

I respectfully disagree. I found (and bear in mind that I only played with it for about 10 minutes) that by just mashing the buttons, stuff happened. I never really figured out any combos or got any hint of finesse behind the weapon, it felt more like 'press buttons until stuff dies', whereas with the LS (preferred weapon) you can mix up combos and then you get your Spirit Blade and you batter out that combo until it wears off, and with the GS you have to be mindful of people near you, something my brother neglects to do.

What I'm saying is the weapons prior to the Axe there was something about them, where this just seems like a 'wtfpwn' weapon. That might be because I only messed around with it for a little bit and didn't take the time to get to know it (I'm still talking about the weapon!).

Just my opinion though, thought I'd get it out there.

Also, forgive my vocabulary, depression + lots of alcohol+ extreme tiredness = the mess above.

Lol I did the same thing but I learned eventually, but as for the wtfpawn weapon in my opinion is the hammer because it's justs a beast! the only flaw is the no guard and when u do the ground pound thing it usally hits everyone around u other than that it's a beast IMO.

Also, the hammer has a major drawback in being really slow.

True but I think that the power makes up for it and u can use the slowness to your advantage in a way. I just like the hammer lol it's my favorite wepon.
