Holgarde - Day One: Cleansing

If Edo's ears had room to perk up, they would of. He then waved down, and then he made his way down the building.
"Hello, nya! My names Edo Gani, Edo for short." he put out his paw for a hand shake, but then realized he has tiny paw.

"Hello Edo," Cyra greeted the felyne, carefully shaking the small paw. "I am Cyra and it is a pleasure to meet you."

Seeing his advantage, Totoro covered the last bit of distance and pounced onto the Iodrome with the intent to ride it like a horse as he pulls out his dual swords and plunges them into the neck of the beast.

When Totoro latched onto one of the leg's of the Iodrome, the monster quickly lost its balance and slowed to a stop.
The monster not moving made the task of climbing its side much easier for Totoro. Each time he dug his claws into its hide, the tips touched blood.
Of coarse the monster struggled, spinning around primarily and trying to bite Totoro off, to no avail.

Totoro got onto its back and straddled it, using both arms for support to get his bearings.
The Iodrome broke into a dash again, and would have been an ideal mount for Totoro, if not for the fact that it was trying to throw him.
Feeling secure, Totoro reached for his swords and drew them out, but then the Iodrome jerked to a stop and pivoted.

Despite quickly trying to get a firm hold on the Iodrome, Totoro was tossed off the monster's back and flew through the air like a thrown rider.
Like a true feline, he landed on his feet uninjured.
The Iodrome leaped backwards to put some distance between it and Totoro and get its bearings. Rather than flee from the much smaller opponent, it stayed to fight, purple saliva dripping from its mouth.

@Sunfish: Just so it's said, I would suggest a particular amount of caution with this situation. I want to say this could go either way.
There's the street, and then a lot of climbable buildings nearby with alleyways and smaller streets in between.

(Donoto and Metke)

"Tyler." The second monster hunter with Cyra greeted, kneeling down with a smile and shaking the Felyne's hand.
Tyler wore what most people would call "Mafumofu" armor, but in actuality it was a variation from Metke. It was basically the same thing though.
He had a kukri sword made out of monster bone, and a small circular shield that had some metal lining its edged.

Cyra had a lot of blood on her cheek, originating from a relatively small gash (at least, relatively small for monster hunters). It wasn't serious, but it sure as hell called attention to itself.

@Star and Blaster: If you two haven't already, you'll probably want to look at each others' character information for full physical descriptions of one another.

Totoro sheathed his swords and began backing away from the Iodrome, ready to dive to the side if necessary to dodge the poisonous saliva. He then turned and sprinted down an alleyway and started climbing the nearest building as fast as his furry limbs could take him.

The saliva never came, but the Iodrome ran in on Totoro, its head low to the ground to snatch up its shorter prey. Since it was an adept hunter, when Totoro dove off to the side, it veered accordingly.

Totoro was still a very fast and small creature though. He got away from the Iodrome and sprinted down an alley.
A dumpster was along the way, which Totoro leaped on top of, having to climb up once he got on the edge.
The rooftop next to the dumpster was within reach, so, like before, Totoro jumped up, caught the edge and pulled himself up top.

The Iodrome had followed Totoro into the alleyway, and barked at him when he was on the roof. The purple fluid still seemed from its lips.

The caravan was a little ways back by now. A few decameters at least.
Rooftop to rooftop travel was plausible for most of the distance. In any case, Totoro could easily make it back without the Iodrome catching him.
The likely hood of the Iodrome following Totoro back to the caravan was slim at best.

Totoro stuck his tongue out at the Iodrome and then retreated back towards the caravan, acknowledging that he couldn't fight it alone.

"Whoa, nya! What happened to your cheek, nya?" Edo said when he noticed the scar on Cyra's face.

"Three Wells."

The hunter smiled and greeted the two hunters with firm handshakes, nodding to each man as he did so.

"Our caravan brings medicine and rations from Rulbo," said Three Wells, "to aid the people here." He started to walk along with the caravan. "We have just repelled a raptor pack led by an Iodrome, but not without loss. How fares the Metke contingent?"

(Metke)

Adressing Edo, "I got bit by a Genprey during a fight. It is no big deal." Cyra told him.

She reaches up to her cheek and feels more blood there, so she gets out another rag to hold to it and wipe some of the blood away. She can just imagine how she looked. Oh well, that was the life of a monster hunter.

Cyra looked around wondering where they should head next.

"Do you think we should keep on east to meet up with the caravan?" Cyra asks her companions while putting the rag back away.

She is once again ready to move on and help all they could.

Edo nodded," Nya!" he had a grave look on his face. "If there are prey here, nya, and you fought prey, nya... Oh nya! We have to hurry, nya!" Edo then darted off to the Donoto caravan.

Cyra watched Edo take off. She turns to Tyler and asks, "Shall we follow our small companion there?"

She then heads off after Edo.

The Iodrome pursued Totoro only for a few strides, until it realized he was headed back to the caravan. At that point, it gave up and ran away somewhere.


"We cleared out a pack lead by a Gendrome. Our caravan is at the gathering hall, where much of Sontruma's population and hunters have gathered. Our company split up to help the other two caravans arrive." David reported to Wells.

Totoro returned from the west, running along the rooftops.

The Aptonoth had been settled, and were put to work again and pulling the caravan forth once more.

"What should we do about the civilians?" One of the hunters called to Wells from the other side of the caravan, craning his head.
People were still panicking inside the building they holed up into. One of the bodies was that of a young girl.

"PAT!" Ryan's voice was hear, the obvious realization made. The sound of his great sword hitting the ground was heard after, followed by the sound of his feet headed towards where Patrick's corpse was.

"Yeah, sure." Tyler said to Cyra, already leading off. The two followed Edo after, falling behind but not losing him.

As the three hunters made their way clockwise around the area, they encountered no other 'Prey. They happened upon a 'Prey corpse that looked at least a day old, though.

The Donoto caravan seemed to have encountered some more 'Prey, because a four freshly killed bodies were east of the fire department. No human corpses were amongst them.
The wagons were now stopped in front on the fire department building. Some of the wagon staff and hunters were bringing supplies inside.

One of the Donoto hunters approached Edo, whom was accompanied by Tyler and Cyra. "There's civilians inside, so we were gonna drop off some supplies to them. Is there anything else we should do?"

@Blaster and Starlady: It's worth mentioning that you guys haven't searched out the southern hemisphere around the fire department building (the larger building with the shooters on its roof).

@Everyone: I asked Starlady a question like this earlier; Would you rather lead yourself, or have me kind of lead you around? Either or from situation to situation is fine too.
For example, would you rather have the caravan hunters ask you for guidance, or have them direct you as to what you should be doing?

As the caravan was dropping off supplies, Cyra address Tyler and Edo, "There is a portion of the building to the south that we have not scouted yet. I am going to go and head that way now while the caravan unloads, do you want to come with?"

Cyra will then heads toward the south of the building.

(Donoto)

Having stayed back with the caravan, Chirozay approached the other hunters. Wringing his hands, he hesitated before speaking up. "Would you mind it if I joined you? I'm tired of unloading supplies from this caravan, and I want to see some action," he asked nobody in particular. He muttered something under his breath and laughed before growing silent again.

"Tell the civilians to wait at the town center. There shall be no more delays in our journey."

Cyra turn to the hunter that approached them, "Sure we can always use another hunter to help clear the area."

"I am Cyra by the way," she introduces herself and extends her hand in greeting.

Edo nodded to Cyra, then went with her to the south.

ooc: @DB: In my opinion, I think it might hekp us a little if the caravan hunters told us what we should do incase we aren't sure.

Totoro walked up to Wells and looked around, "There's nothing we can do for the dead, nya, we need to keep moving and prevent more casualties."

@Glyph: Just for the record, you would have helped killed some 'Prey that attacked the caravan as it came up to the fire department building (the larger building).
(This battle was only implied by Edo seeing some freshly killed 'Prey bodies where the caravan passed through.)

@Blaster: Yeah, if you guys are lost, I'll get you going in the right direction.

@Rekee: By town center, what do you mean? I'm confused because I never labelled a building the town center, and the center of town would be where the gathering hall stuff is, which would require the people to move, not wait.
I'm going to presume you mean the buildings they holed up into recently. If you meant otherwise, please correct me.

"-Alright." The hunter replied to Wells, stumbling over the word. He looked around for a moment, then back at Wells. "Maybe a couple of us should hang around here, just encase." He suggested.

As the caravan continued ahead, Ryan stayed with Pat's corpse (out of sight from behind the building).

Edo, Cyra, Tyler and Chirozay made their scan of the area south of the fire department, spreading out to cover a wider radius.
A few more unrecognizable skeletons almost completely stripped of any flesh were found, dried blood, torn clothing, flies and the smell of death all around them.

Chizoray happened upon a pair of 'Prey, and Edo was hovering over him from a rooftop upon the confrontation.
Only seeing one opponent and thinking the odds were well in their favor, the two 'Prey quickly barked and charged Chizoray.

Tyler and Cyra heard the commotion and were not far away at all, and were quickly among the fray.

Cyra seeing the prey charge Chizoray quickly grabs her spear off her back and rushes in to help.

She will go after the prey further away from the other hunter. She will charge in and with a two handed hold on her spear thrust it into the side of the prey, with her trade mark pull and rip for optimum damage.

The hunter was asking "should we leave hunters here" under the assumption that the civilians were staying here (so the hunters could protect them).

The monster hunter knocked on the door of one of the buildings the civilians fled to, pounding it and loudly stating he was a monster hunter. After a moment, it was opened, and he went inside.
A few seconds past, and then him shouting could be heard. After the panicked civilians quieted down, he made the announcement, "All of the monsters have been cleared out of the area! We're going to escort you to the gathering hall now!"

The civilians didn't take well to the idea, as they started protesting.

Another hunter happened to be listening in on things, and could hear what the people were saying. "They're afraid the same thing's gonna happen!" He conveyed to Wells, shouting from the other side of the caravan.

Some of the original caravan company personnel started coming out from the stronghold buildings, taking their place among the wagons.

@Julbo: Bear in mind that there's multiple buildings these people fled to, most larger than normal (some probably restaurants).

Three Wells shook his head and loudly announced for all to hear.

"Listen up! Those who want to remain here will stay. Those who want to continue receiving supplies, will follow us to the center of town. We will protect you. Is that alright?"

Noticing the commotion from the building he was on (he was on a building, right?) he got out his gun and carefully aimed at the prey charging Chizoray, then once it stopped, by either attack or attacking, he fired a shot at it's feet, hoping to trip it up, then fired two more shots at it's back, firing his last two at it's head. After he loaded in five more Normal S.

Some of the monster hunters passed on what Wells said into the stronghold buildings.
Some civilians came out and climbed atop of the caravan wagons, but a lot of them stayed inside the building. Only about a quarter ventured out.

One woman came out but didn't go for the wagons. Rather, she went for the human corpses further back.
She wailed at the top of her lungs, "MARISA!!!" and ran to the smallest of the three bodies, already sobbing. She fell to the body and cradled it, screaming 'no' incessantly.

"Stay here." David, the higher rank Metke hunter, said to Hector, the other Metke hunter. Hector nodded, and approached the woman.

"I was gonna stay here." One of the Julbo hunters said to Wells.

"Let them, nya." Totoro said after a moment, "Since most of the civilians are staying here, this is where most of the protection should stay."

Chirozay drew his weapon, and readied himself for the 'prey's attack. He was prepared to sidestep and swing at the first to reach him.

@Glyph: Don't worry about it. I wouldn't say you were slow, just that Blaster and Star were fast.

@Blaster: Yes, you're atop a building. We'll say you're kind of off to the side of Chizoray/Glyph, not particularly ahead or behind.

When Tyler and Cyra rushed to join the fray, the 'Prey noticed them coming and quickly stopped. Since they were now out numbered three to two (really two to one), they were probably thinking of retreating, because 'Prey almost never fought an outnumbered battle.

Because both of the monsters were pretty much the same distance from Chizoray, Cyra just went for the one closest to herself.
The targeted 'Prey foresaw her very direct attack, and jumped back and to the side to evade. Consequently, Cyra's running thrust missed.

Meanwhile, Edo was lining up his shot on the other relatively unmoving 'Prey. Once he was satisfied with his aiming, he pulled the trigger and watched.
The small arrow sank right into the monster's skinny leg. The limb gave out and the 'Prey fell over onto its side with a scream.

Following up, Edo put two more rounds into its back, relatively easy shots considering the size of the target.
His first shot at the head missed because the 'Prey was flailing about.
His second shot, fired when the head was somewhat still, hit its mark, killing the 'Prey.

The reason I didn't have Chizoray do anything was because it seemed like he was waiting to be attacked first.
I also figured he wouldn't want to get in Edo's line of fire.
