Status: INFECTED

Jason slowly neared the corpses, and examinded them. He was on very high alert, and would shoot at the first hostile he saw, or at the first scream he heard.

Would there be like supports beams going to the ground anywhere? Because I imagine the giant ceiling would cave in otherwise.
How does the HUD work again?

Jake switched to thermal vision as suggested, and began moving ahead slowly, motioning the others to follow. "Two of you watch our flanks." He said, taking the front lead himself, scanning the area.

OOC: Just a thought, but since zombies are "dead" and therefore produce no body heat...wouldn't they not show up on thermals?

Dax switched to thermal vision on his suit's HUD and took the flank as Jake had ordered. He scanned the area while slowly moving backwards. His AK was raised and ready.

OOC: Ah yes, but you forget, dear Watson, that the recently deceased would still give off heat. Also, the zombies aren't reanimated, they're infected with some kind of virus.

The group stayed in fairly tight formation as they neared the lights, sandbags, and bodies. The sandbags were arranged in a circular formation around a group of tents, one of which was collapsed. A few spent shell casings scattered the ground, mostly around each of the bodies. Three were unarmored and still gave off heat, while further searching showed two armored corpses. Each of them unarmored corpses had a F-23b type assault rifle, still mostly loaded. One of the armored bodies had a large flamethrower, and a fuel source on it's back. The other had a gauss rifle. Each of the deceased had large numbers of bite wounds on them, but there was something peculiar as well. Every corpse had a large puncture wound in it's abdomen, sometimes more than one.

Staying in group formation at the flank, while she took everything in around her, the bad feeling Callie had just kept getting worse.

Seeing the bodies, she wondered what could have done this to them. What exactly are they dealing with.

Hoping she didn't sound too cold Callie makes a suggestion, speaking quietly, "We could probably use those weapons and the flame thrower, it would be a shame to waste them, and something tells me we just might need them."

What weapon category would the gauss rifle fall under? And the flamethrower?
Also, what does the gauss rifle look like roughly? I'm assuming it's not a normal firearm looking thing.

"Yeah." Jake agreed as he went over to the gauss rifle and knelt down. He checked to see if it was loaded, expecting it wasn't.
If it wasn't, he'd find ammunition and reload the weapon. Even if it was loaded, he'd find extra ammo.

"I don't think we're up against human zombies..." Jason said nervously. He survayed the area, ready to shoot at the first hostile.

"You guys take their weapons, I'll stick to what I know and trust." Dax lovingly patted his AK. He then went around to one of the dead men with bite marks and smashed his head in with his crow bar. "I think we should make sure these things are dead." He told the others as he continued to the next one.

Both gauss rifles and flamethrowers are considered heavy weapons.

Hawthorne spoke up again, through the intercom. "Take anything you think will be useful, but most importantly look for some communications equipment. I don't want to be stuck down here." Nothing moved aside from the members of the group.

Jason grunted, and cautiosly picked up the flame thrower, leaving the Assualt Rifle around his shoulder. Having the Flame Thrower ready to BBQ, he kept a ready aim and eye out for any signs of hostility.

Not knowing how good she will be with it, but figuring it will come in handy, even if she just gives it to someone else to use, Callie picks up one of the rifles and any ammo she can find to go with it.

Would the rifles laying around be like military standard issue?

Am I right in assuming that "heavy" means "large/mounted", according to the stats.
As in, Jake would have no skill with them, but Jason would.

Jake looked over at Dax as he (Dax) smashed a corpse's skull in, surely killing it. He didn't say anything.

"Hey, soldier." He called to Jason, forgetting his name. "Are you skilled with this kind of weaponry?" He asked, referring to the gauss rifle he held up.

"Yeah. I use those all the time. Why?" Jason responded, but the sound of his voice told that he was satisfied with the flamethrower.

Anyway, is there any way Jason could carry the flamethrower and the gauss rifle? Would there be any hindrance?

"If we end up needing it you'll be the one using it." Jake said, still looking around for which corpse had ammunition for the pseudo cannon.

OOC: As far as heavy weapons go, the gauss rifle is a heavy weapon. It weighs 150 kilograms and fires 200,000$ custom cartridges at 10 rounds per minute. It costs 400,000$ to fire this weapon for 12 seconds. Oh, and yes, you caught me, the picture is from Starcraft.

As far as using more than one heavy weapon goes, that would be extremely difficult. The flamethrower alone has a large fuel source in the form of a backpack (fitted for the armor) The gauss rifle weighs about 68 lbs., and both are extremely bulky.

ooc: Holy ****! That's A LOT of money! You'd have to be 10x more crazy than extremely crazy to buy that! I ain't using anything that expensive!

"Oh, wait, I never did use those. My bad." Jason said, correcting himself where he thought he used Gauss Rifles. "I've only ever used this Assualt Rifle and my faithfull Pistol."

OOC: That was a joke/reference, although I think you'd be surprised at how much military hardware costs. People freak out when large sums of money are lost in economic scandal, but the reality is that a single jet aircraft (F-22 or the like) costs billions to produce.

I question that jets are billions a piece. Source. It seems to be tens or hundreds of millions, which is still wicked expensive.

Would the rifles laying around be like standard issue for military? (And something Jake and probably Jason have used a lot). Just a role playing question.

Jake equipped the gauss rifle to himself, then began stripping the original user of ammunition and replacing it on his person. He figured he was the best person to be shooting it. It reoccurred to him that someone shot the weapon prior. If they were military trained, that meant they were up against something that warranted the devastatingly powerful weapon.

"Were these people military trained?" He asked the people who had been here earlier.

OOC: The rifles wouldn't be standard issue, but it's likely that someone in the military would have used one at some point. I forgot to mention that they have five shots in a clip.
And what I meant by the billions of dollars also included development and research stuff, although I still may have overshot.

Jason kept a steady eye out while procceding farther into the room.

Dax finnished off the last of the dead and went over to the first suit. He took off the helmet and looked for the comunications equipment. He intended to try and boost thier signal and hopefully reach the surface. "Could one of you help me get all of the COM gear from the dead guys?" he asked, still fiddling with the helmet.

OOC: Glyph I assume you'll tell me what I find and if I'm able to establish a stronger signal etc.

"All of us have had some military experience," the haz-mat suited man replied to Jake. "Excluding myself of course, I'm here for more scientific purposes." Nothing moved in the eerie stillness of the chamber. "We had set up a location further into the establishment, but we retreated back to here after a few nights. Two of us had gone missing, Ms. Kelly Jensen, a science officer like myself, and Ernest Verum, our communications specialist." The science officer turned to Dax. "All of our communications equipment would be in that tent. Please, whatever you're doing, hurry. I fear that we may encounter our unseen foes very soon."

Scrubbing the comms. equipment from the dead soldiers, as well as what was in the tent yielded a small amount of useful supplies. A few pieces of circuitry, some recieving equipment, etc... It would probably be enough to increase the signal of the unit from the tent, which was about the size of a toaster. Nothing appeared to be broken, so it was odd that no signal was ever read.

OOC:@KKB What you decide to do with all of the equipment is up to you, just say what your goal is, and a number.

Dax thanked him for the help and compiled all of the equipment around the COM station in the tent. He then set to work trying to boost the signal with scraps from the helmets. (7) His gloved hands made it more difficult but he finished in good time.

After the gauss rifle and its ammunition were squared away, Jake collected one of the dropped rifles and several magazines of ammunition for it, making sure each were completely full (taking bullets out of others as necessary).

Callie stood back and watched the others work, she was impressed with what Dax was doing with the communications devices and she hopes that he is successful.

She had one of the regular rifles over her shoulder and the extra ammo in her bag.

Not sure what else to do she keeps watch.

OOC: Sorry for the inactivity, I was bizy with Thanksgiving stuff yesterday, and I probably won't be around to update until later today at the earliest. Again, sorry about that.

OOC: Sorry for not being forthcoming with any updates, I honestly have no excuses.

The assorted bits of electronics equipment, scraps of metal, and a few other odds and ends had been assembled around the COM station. Immediately, the static from the reciever died down, even if only a small amount. Garbled words could be heard on the other end, although who or what was speaking them was anyones guess.

"Hello...hello?" Dax said into the micraphone of the COM equipment. "Shit! The signal is still pretty weak. Le'me see if I can't fine tune it a bit." he said to himself more than the group. He began to fiddle with the knobs of the COM gear and made sure all the connections were in order (12).

After sorting out all of his ammunition, Jake stood on guard as Dax tried to establish communications.

"Switching to thermal." He habitually announced before switching to thermal vision. He scanned the area, including what was above.
